Women's club cricket statistics update
Canterbury Cricket Association - 11 December 2001
Coming up to the Christmas break it has been the weather more than anything which has dominated women's senior cricket. With four games being effected by the elements, it has been hard for players to get into a regular rhythm.
However, when players have managed to get onto the park, it has been pleasing to note some strong performances. Nothing can separate the two top run scorers, Nicola Payne from St Albans (235) and Paula Flannery from LPW (234). Both have scored centuries and will miss the next round, being away with the CLEAR White Ferns in Australia. Sarah Helmore (Ricc), Jess Little (ES) and Kate Legg (ES) have also been consistent with the bat.
There is really no contest for the top wicket taker, with Vanessa Lord of Riccarton (20), has almost double any other player. She has turned in some outstanding performances, taking regular wickets and going for only 1.5 runs an over. Also performing well with the ball have been the young Aranui High School student, Rebecca Steele (LPW) with 11 wickets and Nicola Payne (St A), who has shown her all round ability with 11 also.
Below is a list of the top run scorers and wicket takers to date.
