Southern Redbacks' batsman Greg Blewett has been called in to replace Darren Lehmann as captain of the Prime Minister's XI for its one-day match against the New Zealanders at Manuka Oval in Canberra tomorrow, 6 December.
Lehmann has been forced to withdraw from the side as his wife Andrea is expecting the birth of twins.
Upon his sudden call-up to lead the Prime Minister's XI, Blewett said: "It is a true honour to be given this opportunity, and I hope that I can help fill the void left by Darren's absence.
"The Southern Redbacks' victory over the New Zealanders in November was a great thrill, so it would be nice to lead this team to victory over the tourists as well," Blewett said.
Blewett is the only player with Test experience in a 12-man squad chosen by the ACB's National Selection Panel in consultation with the Prime Minister's office, but the line-up still boasts an impressive array of talent.
The squad is:
Greg Blewett SA (captain), Stuart Clark NSW, Michael Clarke NSW, Clinton Dann WA, David Dawson ACT, Brad Haddin NSW, Martin Love QLD, Jack Smith ACT, Shane Watson TAS, Cameron White VIC, Damien Wright TAS and Brad Young SA. The 12th man will be named on the day.
Umpires: Peter Chapman ACT and Richard Patterson VIC
