Glamorgan take two points from washout with Middlesex to stay in promotion hunt Matthew Appleby - 26 August 2001
Glamorgan gained two points to remain promotion probables in their rained-off NUL match against the Middlesex Crusaders at Lord's today. They scored 100 for three off 20 overs before the game was called off at 5.20pm. Earlier, play had stopped for the second time at 3.15pm. After just an over's play the Dragons, who had been put in by Angus Fraser, took an offer of bad light. Play was reduced to 38 overs an innings. Under grey skies, the newly shaven-headed Fraser bowled Keith Newell on the drive then had Robert Croft caught at point for 13. Fraser went to the top of the NUL bowling averages (ahead of Glamorgan's Andrew Davies) when he had Ian Thomas lbw hitting across the line in his next over. The 38-year-old finished with three for 15 off eight overs. Glamorgan's Jimmy Maher (35 not out) and Matthew Maynard (19 not out)then spoiled Fraser's party on Middlesex's last day of the season by adding an unbroken 53 off 60 balls. © CricInfo
