MTN boost for EP schools' cricket Media Release - 24 August 2001
For the fourth consecutive year, MTN has made R125 000 available for the upliftment of cricket at certain schools in the Eastern Cape. According to Russell Domingo, Junior Cricket Manager, EP Cricket see the maintenance of cricketing standards at these schools as vital in ensuring success at junior and senior levels within the province. "Many schools have been identified as established feeder schools for the province and these funds will be used to improve cricket standards and the level of coaching at the schools. "Qualified EP Cricket coaches will coach top players at these schools on a regular basis and various coaching clinics for the school coaches will be conducted by specialists to improve the skill levels of the top players at these respective schools," he said. MTN also provides scorebooks, notice boards and advertising boards to the schools that benefits from the programme. The Eastern Cape Schools that will benefit from MTN's involvement in schools cricket this year are: HIGH SCHOOLS: Framesby High School, Alexander Road, Grey High School, Daniel Pienaar, Muir College, Kingswood College, St Andrews College, Graeme College, Woodridge High School, Union High School, Cradock High School.
