Tudor ruled out of Oval Test with injury CricInfo - 22 August 2001
Alex Tudor has been ruled out of the fifth and final Ashes Test against Australia at The Oval. The Surrey fast bowler injured his right hip during England's six-wicket victory at Headingley, and therefore cannot make his first Test appearance on his home ground. Tudor was recalled for the third Test against Australia at Trent Bridge after a two-year absence from the England side. Tudor's injury reduces the England squad to 13, with fast bowlers Richard Johnson of Somerset and Leicestershire's Jimmy Ormond both hoping for a place in the final line up. England will decide on the spin situation tomorrow, with both the Middlesex slow left-armer Phil Tufnell and Glamorgan's off-spinner Robert Croft in the thirteen. © CricInfo Ltd.
