Chairman PCB inspected the newly built Multan Stadium Pakistan Cricket Board - 20 August 2001
Chairman PCB. Lt. General Tauqir Zia, on Monday inspected the newly built Multan Stadium & went around its various facilities. Chairman PCB during his visit discussed the preparation of pitch, with the PCB Curators, for the coming ATC Test Match against Bangladesh starting from August 29, 2001. During the detailed inspection he saw the team dressing rooms, room of the team officials including the match referee, facilities for the electronic & print media, installation of the Score Board, provision for parking, catering & other facilities. DCO Multan Najuibullah Malik along with other officials & local cricket association office-bearers, senior officials of PCB & BBCL were also present. Chairman PCB, accompanied by Director PCB & senior officials also held detailed discussions with DCO Multan Najuibullah Malik & other members of the Organizing Committee regarding various aspects of the Test Match preparations. DCO Multan stadium informed him that the preparations were well under control & special buses will be arranged, from various points in the Multan City to transport visitors to the test match. He briefed him about the various arrangements ranging from security to the provision of necessary facilities to the visitors on the ground besides smooth conduct of the match.
Multan stadium recently completed, has 30,000 seating capacity with all the modern facilities. The organization of the match, like other venues in the country, it may be mentioned has been assigned by PCB to the local district association through a MOU to organize the match with the help of an Organizing committee consisting of members from Multan Stadium Trust, local administration & the Cricket Association.
