Kevin Shine very happy with win but warns not to read too much into Leicester result
Richard Walsh - 14 August 2001

After seeing his side triumph by the narrowest of margins over the Norwich Union table toppers Leicestershire, Somerset Coach Kevin Shine told me,"It was a very exciting game and most enjoyable to watch. I was very pleased with the win after a break from the white ball game."

However he went on to warn, "but we shouldnt read too much into that result. The final of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy at Lord's will be a very different game."

I asked the coach which aspects of the game pleased him most. He told me,"the boys never let go, we squeezed very hard in the middle after they had got away and pulled it back in our favour. In our innings we had some excellent batting from "the old man" with another good contribution from Ian Blackwell." "There is still a long way to go before we are safe in the National League, but hopefully our good form will start to kick in," he concluded.

Somerset now have three days off before travelling to Edgbaston for the National League match on Sunday and then come back to Taunton to take on Surrey in a day/night match next Tuesday.
