Wasim and Moin named for 1st match 13 August 2001
The Pakistan cricket selectors named Wasim Akram, Moin Khan and Mushtaq Ahmad for the first of three practice matches scheduled for Monday. Wasim, Moin and Mushtaq were overlooked for the training camp currently in progress at the National Stadium. The selectors decision to drop senior players has been widely criticized by the media, commentators and followers of the game. However, Misbahul Haq, Salim Elahi and Ijaz Ahmed were yet again ignored. Wasim Akram will lead Shafiq Ahmad XI while Waqar Younis will skipper the Mohsin Khan XI. Teams for the Aug 17 and 20 matches will be named later. Squads: Shafiq Ahmad XI: Wasim Akram (captain), Taufeeq Umar, Imran Farhat, Naved Latif, Younis Khan, Hasan Raza, Moin Khan (wicket- keeper), Azhar Mahmood, Danish Kaneria, Irfan Fazil, Azam Hussain.
