PCB reviews performance of National and Regional Academies Pakistan Cricket Board - 6 August 2001
Lahore, August 6, 2001. Chief Coach Mudassar Nazar and all the coaches of the Academies met the Chairman PCB, Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia at PCB Headquarters, Gaddafi Stadium Lahore to discuss the performance of the Academies at a lengthy meeting held on Sunday. The meeting was also attended by Director PCB and other senior officials. Briefing the meeting the Chief Coach expressed his satisfaction over the whole exercise of the setting up of academies and their steady progress during the term. The Chairman PCB also conveyed his happiness over the good work and hoped the benefits of the experience gained and knowledge acquired by the players would be visible during the coming season. The National and the Regional Academies are being wound up from August 14, and the next term is likely to start in April 2002, after the extended home season, PCB officially announced here on Sunday. Exact program will be released by PCB in due course. Eight players from the National Academy are leaving for Karachi having been picked up as Probables for the National Camp. 22 players are to report to the Fast Bowlers Camp being organized by PCB in Karachi and to be supervised by Daryl Foster, who is arriving in Pakistan by the mid August for this two-week assignment. A separate Spinner camp will also be arranged for which the services of our great leg spinner Abdul Qadir are being acquired.
The rest of the players who underwent intensive training and coaching at the Academies will report back to their respective Associations to play in the domestic competition. Their performance will be duly monitored by the National and Regional Coaches during the season.
