PCB Chairman chairs imperative issues Pakistan Cricket Board - 5 August 2001
A high level meeting presided by Chairman PCB, Lt. General Tauqir Zia was held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore to discuss important matters regarding Management Committee, Constitution and the new structure, umpiring, Administrative and Financial Affairs and preparation of Pitches besides reviewing a plan for the domestic season and tours. It also took up the matter of the National training camp and preparation for the coming season. Yawar Saeed, the Manager designate for the National Camp, also attended the meeting. National Training Camp is being held at Karachi, prior to the Asian Test Championship matches and a heavy home season including the coming tour of New Zealand to Pakistan. Pakistan Probables will play six practice one-day matches at Karachi, including two under lights, during their 19-days training camp at National Stadium starting on August 6, 2001. The proposed matches during the camp will be against strong opposition including several current test players who are not in the camp. The Probables will undergo regular physical training and work out besides net practice during the camp. The Camp Coach Sikander Bakht will be assisted by a psychologist, and a panel of PCB doctors and a dietician for proper and special care of the players during the camp.
The team for the first test in Asian Test Championship against Bangladesh will be announced on August 24, on the conclusion of the National Camp. The selected squad will reach Multan on August 26, for the test match to be played from August 29.
