Derbyshire boost squad with signing of Wasim Khan Graham Holburn - 19 April 2001
Derbyshire have at last clinched the signing of batsman Wasim Khan. The county have been trying to sign the 30-year-old for some weeks and it had been rumoured that they had completed the deal early last month but Derbyshire moved swiftly to deny this at the time. However, the county has now told CricInfo that the signing has been completed and that Wasim is training with the the squad. Derbyshire are hopeful that he will give greater depth to their batting. Wasim played for Warwickshire from 1995 to 1997 and joined Sussex in 1998. He had a good first summer with them and scored a century against Derbyshire, but had since struggled to stay in the first team and was released at the end of last season. © CricInfo
