Lord MacLaurin re-elected ECB Chairman ECB Media Release - 21 September 2000
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today announced that Lord MacLaurin had been re-elected as its Chairman for a further two years. His nomination for the post was unopposed. Lord MacLaurin is currently in his fourth year as ECB Chairman. He became Chairman of the Test and County Cricket Board (TCCB) in 1996 - taking over the Chairmanship of ECB at its inception in January 1997. Commenting on his re-election, Lord MacLaurin said: "The successful introduction of England contracts and a two-division County championship; changes to the governance of the ECB and the expansion of the game at grass roots level are all significant developments which the ECB can take great pride in. "Our task now is to build on these achievements and ensure that cricket retains its position as the country's number one summer sport. I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to continue in my role and look forward to the next two years with a real sense of optimism."
