Sodhi, Kanitkar to lead in warm up matches against Zimbabwe Anand Vasu - 30 October 2000
Zimbabwe will land in India on November 5 to commence a tour that encompasses two three-day warm up games, two Test matches and five One-Day internationals. Their first taste of cricket in the subcontinent will be an encounter against the National Cricket Academy team at Indore from November 8-10. The NCA side is led by Reetinder Singh Sodhi, who has been on the verge of national selection for many months now. The side will showcase some exciting talent from around the country. Sodhi has at his disposal the cream of the young talent in the country - India caps Sridharan Sriram, Mohammed Kaif among others. The Board President's XI will give Zimbabwe their second practice game to be played at Faridabad from Nov 13-15. The Board President's XI side will be led by Maharashtra southpaw Hrishikesh Kanitkar. The side includes a host of former cricketers including Hemang Badani, Vijay Bharadwaj, Virender Sehwag, Vijay Dahiya, Debashish Mohanty, Rahul Sanghvi and Ashish Kapoor.
