Staff & Agencies - 30 October 2000
The Australian opening batsman Michael Slater has now been released from hospital after he was taken ill following a meal.
Slater, 30, was at a Training Camp with 27 other Australian players at the Mooloolaba Surf Club on the Queensland Sunshine Coast. They arrived today for
a five-day camp ahead of the international season.
An ambulance was called after Slater had complained of being short of breath and feeling weak and unwell. He remained conscious throughout, and was able to walk to the ambulance on his own. He was taken to Nambour Hospital where he spent part of the evening under observation. He later returned to his team hotel.
