Moors SC were able to compile a massive 255 runs before they were bowled out in the 50th over of the innings.

Moors captain, Rasika Priyadharshana, won the toss on a pitch that gave lttle assistance to the bowlers. The openers, Heshan Tillerkeratne (13) and Rasika Priyadharshana (19), got the innings off to a good start with a 40 run stand. However, they then lost regular wickets until Bathiya Perera was joined by Nilantha Cooray, who scored 40 valuable runs from 55 deliveries. The pair added 98 runs for the sixth wicket.

In reply, Singha CC never looked comfortable and they lost wickets at regular intervals. They were finally bowled out for 76 runs at the end of the 23rd over. Former Sri Lankan ‘A’ pool member, Saman Jayantha, was the only successful batsmen. He scored 29 from 15 balls.

Kalum was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 48 runs. The younger brother of former test player, Chandika Haturasinghe, Chaminda, opened the bowling for Moors and took 2 wickets. Rangana Herath also chipped in with two wickets.

After the match Bathiya Perera said: “It was a good wicket to bat on and once I had settled down I started to middle the ball. When we were losing some wickets, I knew that someone had to play a major innings if we were to post a challenging total.”
