Dawn Visitors attend practice session: Hoggard gets sick
18 October 2000

Karachi, Oct 17: England and Yorkshire fast bowler Matthew Hoggard is down with stomach upset. Hoggard suffered food poisoning after taking his meal from room service of the team's hotel. The touring management has instructed all its players to go down the dinning hall for lunch or dinner.

Hoggard missed England's first outing of the tour under the hot and humid conditions when they attended a training session at the National Stadium. The players had physical workouts inside the main complex while had nets in the outside practice area.

Autograph hunters had a disappointing day when they were stopped from entering the practice area. The security was tight and such was the commitment of the Englishmen that they even complained of distraction when photographers tried to capture their shots.

The most significant aspect of Englishmen's training was the running between the wickets practice between Surrey county team-mates and a couple of the senior members of the team - Alec Stewart (37) and Graham Thorpe (31).

The two players braved the scorching sun when they continued the drill for nearly 15 minutes which proved how conscious they were of their fitness.
