Bevan bumped as world's best batsman

LONDON - Australian cricketer Michael Bevan has been bumped as the world's best one-day batsman by Indian Sourav Ganguly in the latest PricewaterhouseCoopers rankings.

The rankings, released after New Zealand's weekend victory over India in the final of the ICC Trophy, put Ganguly ahead of Bevan for the second time this year, on 805 points to Bevan's 797.

New Zealander Roger Twose moved into third spot, overtaking Test world No.1 Indian Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting.

Adam Gilchrist remained unchanged in sixth spot, with Steve Waugh (16), Mark Waugh (21), Damien Martyn (24), Andrew Symonds (58), Matthew Hayden (68), Shane Lee (85) and Shane Warne (100) the other ranked Australians.

Australian Glenn McGrath remains the top-ranked one-day bowler, ahead of Sri Lankan spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan and the injured Alan Mullally of England in third.

Warne is ranked seventh, Damien Fleming is 14th, with brothers Brett and Shane Lee improving to 28th and 29th spots respectively.

Queenslander Adam Dale dropped one spot to 33rd, followed by Jason Gillespie (53), Ian Harvey and Andrew Symonds tied at 79, and spinner Stuart MacGill at 89.
