Hussain praises bowlers for setting up victory Staff & Agencies - 6 October 2000
Nasser Hussain was full of praise for his bowlers, after he and Alec Stewart had batted England to an easy England win over Bangladesh in the ICC KnockOut. Hussain and Stewart put on 175 runs in 35 overs to seal the victory, but the England captain congratulated his bowlers for restricting the opposition to 232 for eight on an excellent batting wicket. Mark Ealham impressed with three for 48 as England strolled into the quarter-finals, but Hussain was also thinking of Darren Gough, Andrew Caddick and Craig White when he said: "I think we did really well keeping them down to 230. "The batting was always going to be their strength. I told the boys this morning after we watched the game yesterday that the ball just zooms off for four here. "They have a lot of talented batsmen - and you are always under pressure because they have nothing to lose. You just have to keep it under control. But you know with our batting line-up on these sort of wickets you can set or chase anything." Hussain added that on such a good surface line and length were not enough, because the batsmen could get used to the even bounce and pace. Hussain enthused: "I was very pleased with our four main bowlers. They kept mixing it up. They did very well." © CricInfo Ltd.
