Kwa-Zulu Natal won the inaugural Supersport Knockout Challenge by beating Northern Titans by 11 runs after a full day of cricket at Kingsmead.

Mark Bruyns, racing to 46 from 27 balls, and Doug Watson, a quick 23, got Natal off to the start they needed with a stand of 59 in 7 overs. A slight collapse saw a projected total of over the 200 in the 25 over per side tournament reduced to 186/9 with Ross Veenstra (23*) and Gulam Bodi (23*) making sure the Dolphins completed their 25 overs.

Rudi Steyn (105*), thrashing the ball to all parts of the ground, recording 7x4 and 5x6 in his stay of 77 balls, ran out of partners to see the Titans fall short by 11 runs. This was the second lightning fast century of the day, repeating the century by Johan Myburgh in the early opener.

Earlier in the day Northerns reached the final by beating Eastern Province Jumbos, while a dropped catch from Paul Adams saw Kwa-Zulu Natal squeeze through in a nail biting finish.
