PENTASOFT is the sponsor of the Australian cricket team at the ICC Knock-out tournament in Kenya, it was announced today.
The agreement continues the relationship between the global information technology company and the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) that began when PENTASOFT sponsored Super Challenge 2000, the one-day international series between Australia and South Africa at Colonial Stadium in Melbourne in August.
The deal gives PENTASOFT branding on the playing and training apparel of the touring party for the duration of Australia's participation in the event.
The tournament stages all ten Test-playing countries, and hosts Kenya, in a one-day international competition designed to raise funds for the worldwide development of cricket.
Commenting on the agreement, ACB Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Speed said:
"We are delighted that PENTASOFT has agreed to sponsor the Australian team at the ICC Knock-out tournament in Kenya.
"The continued involvement of PENTASOFT in cricket following on from its sponsorship of Super Challenge 2000 is a recognition of the excellent value cricket represents to sponsors."
PENTASOFT Chairman Dr V Chandrasekaran said:
"We are extremely happy to once again be linking up with Australian cricket, this time through sponsorship of the team at the ICC Knock-out tournament.
"The event has global significance as it is the only one outside the World Cup that involves all the major cricket-playing countries.
"And as PENTASOFT is a global company, the chance to sponsor the World Champions at such a high profile tournament that will get widespread coverage is something we are only too happy to be undertaking."
Australia's first match in the tournament is on 7 October against the winners of a preliminary round match between India and Kenya.
If it wins that match, Stephen Waugh's side will go forward to play a semi-final on 13 October, with the final of the event to be contested two days later.
South Africa won the only previous ICC Knock-out tournament to be played, in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1998.
