Abdur Razzaq named player of the series
Paul Andreacchio - 4 February 2000

The vanquished Pakistan cricket team received some consolation after their crushing 152-run defeat in the Carlton & United Series final, with emerging all-rounder Abdur Razzaq named Player of the Series.

Razzaq, who missed the second final at the SCG through injury, was awarded a $25,000 Honda Super Blackbird Motorcycle for his sterling deeds in a struggling side. The youngster scored 225 runs at 37.5 with a top score of 70 not out, and chimed in with 14 wickets at 20.78 with a best return of 5-48.

Razzaq held off challenges from leading runscorers Saurav Ganguly of India (356 runs at 50.85), and Australian duo Michael Bevan (388 at 48.5) and Ricky Ponting (404 at 40.4), who was incidentally named Man of the Match in the second final. Australia's Allan Border Medallist Glenn McGrath bagged five wickets at the SCG to top the wicket-takers with 19 at 15.31, followed on 16 by Brett Lee, brother Shane and Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar
