Haryana quickly in command Santhosh S - 9 December 2000
Haryana were quickly in command on the opening day of their Cooch Behar Trophy semifinal against Bengal at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in Pune on Saturday. Bengal won the toss and decided to bat first. That decision blew on their face as they were bundled out for a paltry 68 in 25.1 overs. J Sharma did the most of the damage with 5/25 duly supported by A Mishar (3/5) and N Agarwal (2/32). Haryana rubbed salt into Bengal's wounds by finishing the day at 299/3 in their first innings. Ishan Ganda was unbeaten on 88 (12 fours and 1 six) and Ajay Ratra was unbeaten on 42 at close of play. Earlier, Manvinder Bisla blasted 88 off 89 balls which included 12 boundaries and two sixes. Bisla put on 108 runs for the first wicket with Bhuvanesh Sharma.
