Brian Lara is keen to continue his International cricket till 40
thereby emulating Clive Lloyd and Viv Richards. There has been
speculation that Lara has lost his desire for the game marked by the
temporary retirement. But after the century at Old Trafford, which
Lara claims to be his "second half", he is determined to carry it till
40.
Lara says that he has become more mature now and is able to handle
things better after playing 10 years of International cricket. He
added: "I'm approaching the most critical stage of my career and it's
nice to be in this form and feeling so comfortable -- playing with the
young guys and the response I got when I came back in the side was
great".
In an interview with Channel 4 television, Lara declared: "The minute
I become a liability, I will stop and make way for the younger guys,
but I would like to think I could compete with the younger guys". He
also revealed that the break he took has made him happy and feels
that the break from the game was the best decision for him.
