Glamorgan announces CricInfo as sponsor of first floodlit match in Wales Glamorgan CCC Press Release - 8 April 2000
The most exciting development of our relationship with cricinfo.com for the 2000 season is that they have agreed to sponsor Glamorgan Dragons’ Norwich Union NCL fixture against the Essex Eagles. This match on Tuesday 13th June 2000 will be the first competitive County match played under floodlights in Wales. Tony Dilloway, Director of Marketing, GCCC, said: “We are privileged to have cricinfo.com as a partner, as they are the home of cricket on the internet. We are confident that it will be an extremely popular match, and it is only through the financial support of CricInfo that the expensive staging costs, including hire of floodlights, can be offset.” CricInfo have been the internet partners of Glamorgan Cricket since the Club became the first County Cricket website in 1996. In association with CricInfo, we are pleased to launch a new URL for the Club – glamorgancricket.com. This will make locating Glamorgan on the web even easier. Andrew Hall, Marketing Manager, CricInfo, said: “CricInfo is committed to investing in the future of the game. CricInfo, www.cricinfo.com, is the most popular cricket site in the world, and the internet’s most popular single-sport site, reaching more than 8 million fans in 180 countries. The site’s traffic is currently at record levels, passing more than 95 million page impressions for a month in March 2000. As an innovative company, we are delighted to be involved with Glamorgan, who are recognised as a progressive County. Glamorgan wanted to bring Floodlit cricket, one of the brightest cricket innovations in recent times to Wales, and we saw this an an opportunity that was simply too good to miss.” For further information, please contact: Tony Dilloway, Director of Marketing, Glamorgan Cricket, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff CF11 9XR.
