Probe on Wasim incident extended The Dawn - 12 September 1999
Islamabad, Sept 11: The Pakistan Cricket Board Inquiry Committee, formed to probe into the incident involving Test batsman Mohammad Wasim, extended its inquiry for another day. The notice for withdrawal or otherwise of the suspension and penalty imposed on the batsman will now be announced tomorrow evening by the cricket board probe body. This was disclosed here by Col (Rtd) Noushad Ali, who is also a member of the three-man committee headed by Javed Zaman. It was stated that the committee will meet here tomorrow Sunday to debate the findings and then after reviewing the recommendations would announce the decision. Both, Javed Zaman and Hafiz Mehmood who were to arrive here today, will now reach tomorrow. It was stated that Javed Zaman has already done some work while in Lahore. It may be added here that PCB Ad Hoc Committee chairman Mujeeb-ur-Rehman had given 24 hours to the probe committee to present its report. Mujeeb leaves for england: The chairman, was not available for comment since he has already left for England from where he would proceed to Toronto before returning home after 10 days.
