- West Indies registered its 14th tournament win (consisting of
three or more teams) and first since winning Champions
Trophy at Sharjah in November 1993.
- West Indies now has the best tournament winning rate.It has
won 14 tournaments out of the 34 it has played in (winning
percentage 41.17).The previous record was on the name of
Australia (40.00).
- Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed without scoring for the
11th time in his career.Walsh is the only bowler who has
dismissed Tendulkar twice without scoring (the previous
such occasion was at
- Walsh has now dismissed Tendulkar 6 times in 16 matches-
thus equalling Pakistan's Azhar Mahmood's record of dis-
missing Tendulkar on most occasions than any other bowler
(Mahmood has dismissed Tendulkar six times in 20 matches).
- Tendulkar's wicket was 220th for Walsh in his ODI career.
He now holds the record of taking most ODI wickets for
West Indies jointly with Curtly Ambrose.However Ambrose
has played in 165 matches as against Walsh's 196.
- Rahul Dravid,on 52,completed his 3000 runs in ODIs.He was
playing his 96th match and 89th innings.Dravid became
11th Indian and 57th batsman to reach this milestone.Among
the Indians only Navjot Sidhu has completed 3000 runs in
lesser innings - 79.
- Dravid scored his sixth hundred in ODI career.It was his
second hundred as 'keeper (the earlier one was against
SriLanka at Taunton on 26 May 1999).Now only Australia's
Adam Gilchrist has scored more hundreds in role of keeper
than Dravid,while England's Alec Stewart and Kenya's Kennedy
Otieno have also scored two hundreds each.
- The fifth wicket partnership of 102 runs between Dravid
and Nikhil Chopra is India's best for this wicket against
West Indies.This obliterates the previous record stand of
96 between Navjot Sidhu and Atul Bedade at Faridabad on
17 October 1994.
- Brian Lara was playing his 150th match.He became ninth
WestIndian and 39th player in the world to do so.
- Richardo Powell scored his maiden hundred in only his fifth
match.By taking only 72 balls to reach the three figure
mark,he has equalled the WestIndian record of fastest ODI
hundred.Viv Richards had also taken 72 balls to complete
his hundred during his knock of 149 at Jamshedpur on 07
December 1983 - also against India.

Afridi (11 each) and Ijaz Ahmed (9) have hit more sixes in
