Dawn Niaz stadium in dilapidated condition
29 October 1999

Hyderabad, Oct 28: The Commissioner Hyderabad division, Mr Nazar Hussain Mahar, has taken a very serious notice of fast deteriorating and dilapidated condition of the Niaz Stadium due to carelessness and apathy of the HMC.

The commissioner visited the Niaz Stadium on Thursday evening and saw for himself the condition of the outfield which had become bumpy all over. The Oct 30 encounter between WAPDA and Hyderabad of Quaid-i-Azam trophy Grade-I match has been shifted to Asghar Ali Shah stadium, Karachi from the Niaz Stadium after the PCB's ad hoc committee member Javed Zaman, was forced to shift the venue because of its non availability.

The commissioner expressed his utter dissatisfaction over the performance of staff of the Niaz Stadium that includes no less than one dozen grades and a sports officer of HMC.

Earlier at the time of under-19 match between Hyderabad and KCCA the ground was also not upto the mark.

Scrutiny: The sub-scrutiny and election committee of Hyderabad which met here on Thursday under the chairmanship of its convenor, Raashid Bashir Mazari, discussed ways and means how to ensure a fair and transparent scrutiny of cricket clubs of Hyderabad division.

This sub committee has recently been appointed by Chairman Scrutiny election committee, Brig (rtd) Salahuddin.

The meeting decided to ensure fair scrutiny of clubs. The convenor directed Rahat Ali Shah, a member, not to succumb to any sort of pressure while scrutinising the clubs and complete the work in the light of directives given by PCB's ad hoc committee.
