A 26-man Western Warriors squad has been chosen to lead WA's charge for a 16th Sheffield Shield in season 1999-2000.

The successful combination of captain Tom Moody and vice-captain Adam Gilchrist has been retained to lead the back-to-back Sheffield Shield champions.

Moody (33) was named captain for the fourth consecutive season after taking over mid-way through 1995-96, while Gilchrist (27) has been his deputy since 1996-97.

The squad includes five new faces with Stuart Karpinnen (formerly of the ACT) and Chris Mason (Bayswater-Morley) contracted only yesterday. Other newcomers, Darren Wates (South Perth), Brad Williams (Victoria) and Mark Walsh (South Perth) were secured las t month.
