Camp begins Shoaib Akhtar arriving tomorrow 2 October 1999
Lahore, Oct 1: Paceman Shoaib Akhtar is arriving on Sunday from Britain after being declared fit and will join the training camp which started here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday to prepare Pakistan team for the forthcoming Sharjah Trophy. This was stated by team manager Yawar Saeed after the first day's training was over. Only seven probables, out of total 22, reported today. Shoaib Akhtar, who missed the matches against West Indies at Toronto (Canada) last month due to shoulder problem had, recovered and he would join the camp, he said. Regarding off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who got his knee operated at London, the manager said his final medical report was to be received on Friday. Hopefully, Saqlain Mushtaq would also be fit before the announcement of the final team on Oct 7 for the Sharjah tour, he said. He said that the camp would be held daily from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Only Saeed Anwar, Aamir Sohail, Mushtaq Ahmad, Rashid Latif, Muhammad Akram, Shabbir Ahmad and Naveed Qureshi reported in the camp.
