Islamabad, Oct 31: Redco were required 227 runs to avoid follow-on with just four wickets in hand in response to Habib Bank Limited's first innings total of 565 for 7 declared here at Margalla ground on Sunday.

For HBL, little known Younas Khan with his swashbuckling 200 off 269 balls, 27 sizzling boundaries and a six created ripples at the ground here on the second day of Quaid-i-Azam Trophy fixture. At close of second day's play, Redco were struggling at 56 for 6 in 18 overs.

Here in the morning, HBL resumed their first innings at the overnight total of 314 with Younas Khan (43) and Salim Malik (19). The HBL skipper, known for his silken-touch stroke-making, hit five fours before falling to leg spinner Adnan Naeem at 37. He faced 68 balls. Wrist spinner Ahmed Kundi removed Asadullah Butt (7).

Younas Khan and next batsman Tahir Rashid (42 off 106 balls) added 116 runs for the sixth wicket to take the score to 483.

The moment Younas reached his 200 mark, HBL declared their first innings soon after tea at 565 for 7 in 139 overs.

All Redco bowlers were punished by the gutsy batsman, especially Ahmed Kundi, Imran Tahir, Waqas Ahmed and Adnan Naeem were hit on all sides of the fence.

The bankers colossal total was not the only highlight of the day as the last session saw Redco collapsed to 56 for 6 in 18 overs. Pacer Kabir Khan was the key demolisher for Redco, picking 4 wickets for 29 runs to pave the way for a certain follow-on.
