Lancashire Evening Telegraph - 14 May 1999

The ECB Premier League Assessment Panel has accredited the Liverpool and District Cricket competition as Lancashire's Premier League from the season 2000.

This will be the first Premier League in Lancashire.

John Brewer the Chairman of the LCB said today: ``This is a great day for Lancashire Cricket.

``My thanks go to all those who have put in so much hard work and particularly Jim Kenyon and his team. The Liverpool Competition have raised the Premier flag and the Board hope that their example will soon be followed elsewhere.''

As a result of the accreditation, the Liverpool Competition will receive financial support from the ECB to the extent of £1,000 for the 12 clubs in the Premier Division together with £1,000 for administration costs in the year 2000 and a further £1,000 as support for the work which is being done now to create the League.
