Arthurton to miss West Indies next match Tony Cozier - 18 May 1999 The news on Keith Arthurton is encouraging-as it is on his fellow Nevisian, Stuart Williams. Left-handed allrounder Arthurton turned his left ankle while fielding in Sunday's opening World Cup match against Pakistan here and was helped off the field, grimacing in pain. He later batted in the West Indies innings with Ricardo Powell as his runner. Team physiotherapist Jacqui King said yesterday the injury was not as bad as it first appeared, especially from the television replays. She said he would be out of the next match, against ICC associate champions Bangladesh in Dublin on Friday but added that she was ``optimistic'' he would be ready to resume practice and playing by the weekend, in time to resume against New Zealand in Southampton next Monday. ``It was a sprain not a fracture which was good news,'' she said. ``We have been working hard on it with laser and ultra-sound treatment and he is a lot better. The swelling has gone down and he is walking a lot more freely without much discomfort.'' Williams was unavailable for Sunday's match after straining his right hamstring in training last week. But King said he was now back to full fitness after treatment and would be able to play against Bangladesh.
