Arosha Perera produced an all round performance of 38 and 3 for 16 to enable St. Sylvester's College, Kandy to score an easy 118-run win over Bandaranayake Maha Vidyalaya, Gampaha in the first round of their Elephant Lemonade Cup schools limited-over knockout cricket tournament match played at Police Grounds, Kandy.

Battle of the Mangosteens on April 1 and 2

Kalutara's Big Match between Kalutara Vidyalaya and Tissa MMV popularly known as the 'Battle of Mangosteens' will be played on Thursday and Friday (April 1 and 2) on the Kalutara esplanade, with play scheduled to start at 9.45 a.m. each day.

This is the 41st encounter between the two schools. Kalutara Vidyalaya is led by Susantha Pradeep while Kapila Gayan is the captain of Tissa MMV.

Kasithuriratne in town

Former Cambrian cricketer S. Kasthuriratne who played in the late fifties is in Sri Lanka on a short holiday. He played 'Sara' cricket for Catamarans and Moratuwa Sports Club. In 1962 he migrated to England where he played cricket for Middleton Cricket Club in Central Lancashire League where the former England cricketer Basil de Olivera was also a member. He was happy that he was able to witness the Cambrian-Sebastianite Big Match and the one-dayer.
