BCCSL Election Mayhem The Electronic Telegraph - 29 March 1999 The Sri Lankan cricket board president was re-elected yesterday at a controversial poll amid allegations that gun-toting intruders had prevented officials casting their vote. Clifford Ratwatte, the losing candidate, said he was seeking legal advice to challenge Thilanga Sumathi pala's 79 to 11 majority after scenes of pandemonium and violence at the board headquarters in Colombo. An agitated Sumathipala showed a video to the media, in which a number of people appeared to gatecrash the venue, though he denied he allowed unauthorised voting. Several people were shown nursing injuries.
