Skandakumar will attend BCC meeting
The Daily News - 23 June 1999

Dear Mr. Richards,

I refer to your letter of the 18th June, 1999 addressed to our Chief Executive, Mr. D. Ranatunge and copied to me.

The members of the Interim Committee duly appointed by the Honourable Minister of Samurdhi, Youth Affairs and Sports appreciate your position with regard to the authorised representatives of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) to attend the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the ICC as set out in your letter under reference.

In the circumstances we have obtained an Order from the District Court of Colombo, Sri Lanka vested with the Jurisdiction declaring interalia that the members of the Interim Committee appointed by the Honourable Minister of Sports are duly authorised to carry out all the functions of the BCCSL as required by you. A certified copy of such Order is furnished herewith.

I am also enclosing hereto a letter addressed to you by the Secretary to the Ministry of Samurdhi, Youth Affairs and Sports further confirming the legality of the Interim Committee appointed by the Honourable Minister.

As already informed ICC, Mr. S. Skandakumar is duly authorised by the Interim Committee to attend the AGM and accordingly he would be attending same on the 23rd instant.

I have arranged to obtain the documents mentioned above, in order to satisfy the ICC of the appointment of the members to the Interim Committee of BCCSL to clear the somewhat confusion created in your minds.

Trust the documents would clear the matter and Mr. S. Skandakumar is accepted as the representative of BCCSL to attend the AGM.

I look forward to a good working relationship with you.

Best regards, RIENZIE WIJETILLEKE
Chairman
