Pakistan's World Cup squad returned home yesterday to face hundreds of angry fans who pelted them with rotten eggs at heavily-guarded Karachi airport.

Fans are demanding a probe into the team's performance after newspapers claimed Pakistan's players 'sold' the final last Sunday.

A century of county cricket at Portsmouth's United Services Ground may have come to an end following a blunder by contractors which yesterday forced Hampshire to switch their two championship fixtures from there this summer.

English Landscapes ordered the square to be mechanically spiked last February - leaving thousands of holes all over the playing surface.

Sri Lanka's cricket board, embroiled in a legal wrangle, have been given observer status at this week's International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.
