Ranjan Madugalle - Referee for Final Sa'adi Thawfeeq - 19 June 1999 MANCHESTER, Friday, - Former Sri Lanka captain Ranjan Madugalle will have the honour of officiating as International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee of the 1999 World Cup final at Lord's on June 20. Madugalle was one of six match referees on duty during the tournament, and it will be a great honour for him to be officiating in that capacity at the home of cricket, when the two best team's in the competition compete for the richest prize in one-day cricket. Madugalle has been a match referee for the past five years and in that time has developed a reputation as one of the best in the business. The World Cup committee in making the announcement today said, Steve Bucknor of West Indies and David Shepherd of England will be the umpires officating the final. Srini Venkatraghavan of India will be the television umpire and Roy Palmer of England the fourth umpire.
