Lancashire League: Rain hits Sunday games
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph - 7 June 1999

Rawtenstall were denied the chance of victory against leaders Haslingden on Sunday when their run-chase was curtailed by the rain which accounted for six of yesterday's seven fixtures.

Having restricted Haslingden to 125-7 from 45 overs, with Peter Seal claiming 5-65, the home side made a flying start to their reply.

But after reaching 41-0 after 6.2 overs further heavy rain dashed their hopes.

Church will also feel aggrieved as their good start was hit by the weather.

Alex Holt (31 not out) and skipper Mark Aspin (21 not out) rattled up a quickfire half-century stand at home to Rishton before the match was washed out after just 15.3 overs with the home side well set on 54-0.

Todmorden managed 28.4 overs at the crease at East Lancs with pro Brendan Nash hitting a rapid 36 in a total of 104-4. Skipper Richard Baigent scored 33 between the showers before the game was abandoned.

Enfield and Accrington managed just nine overs at Dill Hall Lane.

Liam Jackson (three not out) and Sam Reidy (nine not out) helped Enfield to 15-0 before the heavens opened.

Colne and Nelson made a brief start at the Horsfield but only nine overs were possible with Colne having reached 18-1 before play was abandoned.

And there was no play in the derby game between Burnley and Lowerhouse at Turf Moor.

All six games will be replayed later in the summer.
