Players suspended under PCB inquiry body's report The Dawn - 29 July 1999 Lahore, July 28: Responding to press comments on the action taken by the new management (ad hoc committee) of the Pakistan Cricket Board, its spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday: ``The new ad hoc committee on assumption of office found that the board's own interim inquiry report of 1998 was not implemented. The report clearly states: 'The stalwarts namely, Wasim Akram, Salim Malik and Ejaz Ahmad against whom categorical allegations have come on record, may for the time being be kept away from the Pakistan team and be not considered for selection further'. ``...It is in view of this report that the ad hoc committee decided that pending final recommendations of Justice Qayyum Commission, these players should not be considered for selection. 'It has been asked in sections of press why action had not been taken against the three players earlier'. We are not answerable for the actions or in-actions of the previous management. We have to manage our own affairs in a fair, diligent and proper manner. It is in the context of the above position that the three players named above have been proceeded against.''
