Sri Lanka: Wesley-Kingswood drawn

Wesley-Kingswood school cricket encounter played for P. H. Nonis trophy ended in a draw at Campbell Park yesterday. However Kingswood retained the trophy which they won in 1994.

When play was called off at 5.15 p.m. with 9 mandatory overs to go due to poor light, Kingswood were 181 for 9.

Wesley overnight 99 for 5 in reply to Kingswood low total of 124, did well to declare at 212 for 5 due to two unbeaten half centuries by Darshana Medagedara (79 n.o. with 6 fours) and Dhanushka Dissanayake (50 n.o. with 5 fours). Darshana and Dhanushka were associated in an unfinished stand of 125 runs for the 6th wicket.

Kingswood, trailing by 88 runs, batted with more responsibility to make 181 for 9, Namal Pushpakumara top scored with 58 including 2 sixes and 7 fours while Chamara Seneviratne was unbeaten with 35. Subin Faiz, Wesley's strike bowler claimed 6 for 56. Subin had a match haul of 9 for 82, capturing 3 for 26 in Kingswood first innings.

Darshana Madegedera who scored a fine unbeaten 79 for Wesley was named the Man of the Match.
