Sri Lanka Schools: Superb century by Kasun Jayaratne

A faultless display of footwork and judgement by Kasun Jayaratne who scored 105 not out with 8 fours and in 189 balls helped St. Anthony's College, Katugastota to total 255 for 3 and declare by tea interval in their inter-school cricket match against Royal College which began at Katugastota yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.45 a.m. At close Royal had replied strongly with 114 for 2.

The early part of the Antonian innings was dominated by Ravi Wickremapala who scored 78 with the aid of 10 fours in only 95 balls before he was run out in an unfortunate way with the ball deflecting off his bat when he was out of ground at the non striker's end. He put on 125 for the first wicket with Kasun Jayaratne.

Royal after losing an early wicket batted with lot of purpose to even up the exchanges. Theshan Amarasuriya 57 not out with 9 fours compiled in 77 balls put 66 runs in an unfinished stand for the third wicket with Ruchira Jayasuriya (19 not out).

Royal College 114 for 2 in 29 overs, 115 mts (R. Peiris 14, T. Amarasuriya 57 not out, R. Jayasuriya 19 not out).
