S. Thomas' made short work of St. Benedict's first innings by dismissing them for a paltry 90 runs and then batted tentatively to make a laboured 125 for 5 at the close in their inter-school cricket encounter which began at Mount Lavinia yesterday. S. Thomas' made good their decision to field first and found the Bens losing their wickets cheaply to be all out for 90 runs. Skipper and pacie Naren Ratwatte claimed three wickets for the Thomians. Thomians managed to get past the small score of 90 of St. Benedict's to be 125 for 5 made off 38 overs. The onus now rests with the Thomians and much will depend on what they do this morning.

Sloppy fielding by the Sylvestrians who grassed as many as six catches let the lions off the hook. Skipper Kaushalya Weeraratne himself survived a confident appeal for caught behind before he reached double figures.
Medium pacer Chanaka Wijesinghe better known for his batting prowess bowled best to capture 5 for 71. At close the Sylvestrians have replied with 33 for no loss.
