CENTURION, South Africa, Jan 18 (AFP) - The South African selectors Monday named 18-year-old black fast bowler Victor Mpitsang in their squad for a seven-match limited overs series against the West Indies.

Makhaya Ntini, who has been charged with rape, was not included in the 17-man squad but Peter Pollock, convenor of selectors, said his exclusion was on the grounds of poor form and not because of his pending criminal trial.

The United Cricket Board of South Africa Sunday said Ntini was eligible for selection.

Ntini was, however, included in South Africa's provisional 30-man squad for = the 1999 World Cup in England in May and June. The provisional squad includes five black or coloured players.

Mpitsang is a steady seam bowler who plays for Free State province. Two other uncapped players are Gauteng allrounder Andrew Hall, 23, and coloured Boland fast-medium bowler Henry Williams, 31. The series starts with a day-night game at Wanderers, Johannesburg, on Friday.

The South African squad for the internationals against the West Indies is: Hansie Cronje (captain), Shaun Pollock (vice-captain), Gary Kirsten, Mike Rindel, Daryll Cullinan, Jacques Kallis, Jonty Rhodes, Herschelle Gibbs, Mark Boucher, Lance Klusener, Pat Symcox, Steve Elworthy, Nicky Boje, Dale Benkenstein, Andrew Hall, Victor Mpitsang, Henry Williams.

Injured fast bowlers Allan Donald and David Terbrugge may be added to the squad if they recover during the series.
