South Africans U19 play against Hyderabad today

HYDERABAD, Jan 25: The visiting South African Under-19 cricketers will take on Hyderabad Division Cricket Association's Under-19 the team in the first three-day match of their tour here at the Niaz Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday).

The tourists arrived here from Karachi today and had a lengthy net session at the lush-green Niaz Stadium. Their coach Anto Ferreira and Vincent Barnes supervised the session.

Both of them expressed complete satisfaction over the arrangements made by the organisers.

The organisers have allowed a free entry to the stadium. However, foolproof security arrangements have been made for the visitors.

The grassy pitch looks a pacers-friendly track and is quite sporting, said team manager Mthnuzi Manquana. His team included four pacers, three crafty spinners, three al-rounders, and gutsy batsmen, he said.

He maintained that the playing side would be picked-up prior to the start of the match from the 15 players. They included T. Tslenkile (captain), A. Puttick, J. Trott, J. Myburgh, J. Rudolph, J. Ontong, U. Abraham, A. Amla, S. Adam, M. William, G. Smith, W. Dutoit, C. De Lange, E. Tsamisi and A. Nkomo.

Our side also Quite strong an would give tough time to junior world champions, Dr Saifullah Kaimkhani, the HDCA team manager, told Dawn.

He said that although the PCB had offered to include some of the national Under-19 players yet the HDCA insisted to give maximum opportunity to its own youngsters to play highest level of cricket. He also claimed that the track was quite sporting and would help to the pacers of both the sides to a great extent. He said the playing eleven would be announced before the start of the match.

The 17-HDCA boys are Rizwan Fareed (captain), Irshad Ali (vice captain), Raheel Ahmed, Faraz Ahmed, Haris Beg, Azam Khan, Saqib Yunus, Raees Ahmed, Mohammad Haneef, Afzal Jameel, Mansoor Ahmed Chandio, Dad Khan, Zubair Siddiqui, Shahid Hussain, M. Khubaid, Attiqur Rehman and Aijaz Athar.

The match will be supervised by umpires Feroz Butt and Muhammad Taufique Khan, Akbar Khan is reserve umpire.
