Krishnamurthy, India's wicketkeeper dies

Pallamononi Krishnamurthy, son of P Pochiah, died today on 28 January 1999
at Hyderabad. He was born on 12th July 1947 at Hyderabad.
Krishnamurthy started playing cricket from the age of 14 years along with
the family members of CK Naidu. Later he became very close friend with the
Raj brothers, especially with D Govindraj. This is where he started his
early cricket. Blossomed into a fine cricketer in the company of Mumtaz Hussain G Mohan and of course Govindraj.
Krishnamurthy was in the Services Ranji team, and later joined Hyderabad Cricket Team under the captainship of the legendary ML Jaisima.
Krishnamurthy was one of the finest wicket-keeper the country ever produced.
He toured all the cricket playing countries during his time along with the
Hyderabad Blues team. After his retirement, Krishnamurthy served as the Chairman and also selector of the Hyderabad Cricket Association.
Krishnamurthy made his test debut against the West Indies during the victorious Indian tour of West Indies in 1970-71, under the captaincy of AL Wadekar. He also toured England in 1971 and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in
1973-74 with the Indian team.
In the Indian domestics, Krishnamurthy debuted in the Ranji Trophy for Hyderabad on September 2nd, 1967 against Tamil Nadu at Madras under the captainship of ML Jaisimha. He represented Hyderabad for 12 seasons in the Ranji Trophy championship, and holds the distinction of batting at all eleven slots. He is also the only batsman to be associated in a century partnership batting as number 1 and as number 11.
