Injured Bevan out of Australia's match with England

ADELAIDE, Australia, Jan 25 (AFP) - Australian batsman Michael Bevan
will be rested from Tuesday's one day international against England to
rest a groin injury.
Australian team physiotherapist Errol Alcott said Bevan, who missed
Sunday's win over Sri Lanka after straining his groin muscle playing
in Hobart last Thursday, would sit out the Adelaide Oval game to
ensure he was fit for Sunday's match against Sri Lanka in Perth.
``We're going to rule him out for tomorrow, just precautionary, give
him an extra couple of days so he'll come to Perth fully fit and
available for selection,'' Alcott said Monday.
Australia scored a commanding 80-run victory over Sri Lanka, led by a
five-wicket haul to paceman Glenn McGrath. Coach Geoff Marsh said he
was likely to retain the same side for Tuesday's match.
``We'll be looking for another 15 to 20 percent improvement tomorrow,
but I was happy with the way the guys went.''
The danger man for Australia will be in-form England batsman Graeme
Hick, who has hit two centuries in three matches.
Hick, better suited to the one-day matches than Tests, scored 108
against Australia in Sydney, an unbeaten 66 against Sri Lanka in
Melbourne, and 126 not out in Saturday's fiery match against Sri
Lanka, which England lost by one wicket despite scoring 302.
The England-Sri Lanka match reached flashpoint after Sri Lankan
spinner Muttiah Muralitharan was called for throwing and his captain,
Arjuna Ranatunga, halted play while arguing and waving his finger at
the umpires.
As a result, Ranatunga will appear before an International Cricket
Council code of conduct hearing here on Tuesday.
Later in the match, England and Sri Lankan players became involved in
physical and verbal exchanges.
But England captain Alec Stewart said it had not been hard for the
team to put Saturday's confrontational match - which he described as
the least enjoyable he had played - behind them and look ahead to
Tuesday's game.
``We're top of the league remember, and if we win two more games, I
think we qualify for the finals. Obviously, we're looking to start
with another win here on Australia Day,'' Stewart said.
England have four wins from six matches to be on top of the table,
while Australia are second with three wins from six games.
