Sri Lanka: Nearly 200 cricketers attend bowlers clinic

Nearly 200 young cricketers from the districts of Kandy, Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya attended the spinners and fast bowlers clinic conducted by the National Development Committee of the BCCSL which was held on Lake View Grounds, Kandy.

This clinic was conducted by former Sri Lanka test cricketers D. S. de Silva, Rumesh Ratnayake, Director ,National Development Committee, Malcolm Perera and assisted by Regional Coach, Sunil Fernando, Bernard Perera, Chaminda Kodikara, Upali Kodituwakku, Gamini Debahapuwa, Ananda Wijesekera, L. Panditharatne, Indika Fernando and P. Weragoda.

Young cricketers from Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle, Hatton, Ginigathena attended this clinic which was a roaring success.

Former Sri Lanka captain and leg spinner D. S. de Silva said that there was a lot of hidden talent and about 115 cricketers had attended the spinners clinic. The objective of this clinic was to spot talent and taken them down to Colombo for further training and grouping for the national under-19 team and the Sri Lanka 'A' team.

Ex Sri Lanka fast bowler Rumesh Ratnanayake who handled the fast bowlers's clinic had to examine a very large number of young fast bowlers and was quite impressed with the talent which was unearthed.
