New Zealand: North blows royal chance The Christchurch Press - 9 February 1999 Three run-outs from the game's final three balls enabled South to beat North by one run in a thrilling finish and clinch the three-game women's one-day cricket series, 2-1, at Lincoln Green. South snatched a final game win yesterday when North had victory in its sights only to stumble in the tension-filled closing stages. North was 171 for four but lost its final six wickets for 33 runs. Nine runs were wanted from the final over but Jane Hunter-Siu, Erin McDonald and top-scorer Emily Drumm, who was batting with a runner after straining a hamstring earlier in the innings and retiring hurt, were dismissed with consecutive deliveries. Four runs were wanted off the last ball for the win but Drumm could only score two. Her runner was dismissed going for the third.
