New Zealand: Portable pitch prepared The Christchurch Press - 5 February 1999 Work is well advanced on preparing the portable cricket wicket at Jade Stadium (Lancaster Park) for its historic first-class trial match next week. The cricket wicket tray was put in place earlier this week and is now being prepared for the four-day Canterbury-Central Districts Shell Trophy match, starting on Tuesday. If the wicket provides a quality playing surface it should gain International Cricket Council approval for tests and one-day internationals to be played on it from next season. A three-day districts match between Mid-Canterbury and Southland was played on a portable strip last season. Some modifications with pitch depth were made during the off-season.
