Gayle recalled to Jamaica Busta squad The Jamaica Gleaner - 23 February 1999 Jamaica's cricketers leave the island today for Barbados where they will take on the home team in the second semi-final of the Bust Cup tournament. The four-day match gets underway at Kensington Oval on Friday. The 13-man squad includes young Christopher Gayle who missed the matches against the Windward Islands and Barbados due to illness. Robert Samuels, who was dropped for the match against the Windward Islands and then recalled for the game against Barbados, was originally selected but was forced to pull out due to an injured back. Mario Ventura, who was dropped to facilitate the return of Gayle has been recalled to replace Samuels. Squad members Gayle, Wavel Hinds, Matthew Sinclair and Dwight Mais who are in Antigua representing the Board X1 against the touring Australians, and Ricardo Powell who was omitted from the 13, will join the Jamaica team in Barbados. The members of the team leaving today are James Adams - captain, Leon Garrick, Tony Powell, Laurie Williams, Nehemiah Perry, Brian Murphy, Audley Sanson and Mario Ventura. The players will be accompanied by manager George Sterling, coach Robert Haynes, and chairman of the selection committee, Basil Williams.
